Hello people..It is another Wednesday.
My WCW today is Gwendoline Abunaw, the newly appointed Executive Director of Ecobank Cameroon
A former Banking and Finance student of the University of Buea and holder of a MBA from London Metropolitan University, the newly promoted started her banking career as a risk analyst in Standard Chartered Bank, a banking institution she left in 2003 to join the Ecobank Group. A year later, Gwendoline Abunaw is hired by Citibank, before returning in 2011 to Ecobank Cameroon, where she is propelled to the position of Deputy General Manager in 2015. Gwendoline Abunaw inherits a bank whose performances have been commendable for the last two years, and which has succeeded in leaving the 5th position in the hit parade of Cameroonian banks to rise to the 4th bank in the country behind Afriland First Bank, BICEC, and Société Générale.
I know this news has been buzzing since last week but I had to make her my #WCW. I was really happy when I heard the news…Yes I know…because she is a WOMAN!!
This sends a very strong message especially to young girls and women…Especially in our society where it almost seems like a crime to be a WOMAN and AMBITIOUS!! Also very happy that she has local experience and risen through the ranks to Executive Director of Ecobank Cameroon. (At least now I can say that the MD of my bank is a woman lol)
